Christmas comes but once a year, and with it brings…loads of presents under the tree. If you’ve been good, that is. But never mind what you’ll be getting, you’ve only got a couple of weeks to gather those gifts for the ones you love, so you better get cracking.
This December Bristol is pulling out all the stops when it comes to Christmas shopping. Whether you want to browse stalls laden with produce from local businesses, drop by the Apple store to grab that iPad Mini, or hit the major high street chains and upmarket boutiques, it’s all right here in Bristol.
To make sure you don’t miss out here’s our guide to the best Christmas shopping in Bristol this winter.
The Mall At Cribbs Causeway
People come from miles around to shop at The Mall, and it’s little wonder why. With practically every major shop you can imagine all under one roof it’s a one-stop shop for anyone looking for some retail therapy or some last minute Christmas shopping. This year The Mall is being transformed into a winter wonderland to get shoppers in the festive mood. In between dashing in and out of the Apple store, Jack Wills, Hugo Boss (and finding time to grab a bite to eat at Carluccio’s) you can enjoy the largest outdoor ice rink in the South West. There is also a magical ice castle where the kids can visit Santa and go on train rides.

Bristol Local Christmas Market
If visiting the huge retail outlets of international corporations isn’t your style, then drop by the Bristol Local Christmas Market instead. Situated in Broadmead, right in the heart of the Bristol Shopping District, this market will feature stalls from a variety of local businesses. You’ll be able to browse local crafts, clothing, Bristol blue glass, food produce and much more. There will also be a programme of workshops and activities as well as entertainment throughout the evenings.

Bristol German Christmas Market
Bristol has been home to one of the country’s best German-style Christmas markets for five years now, and if you’ve never been to one you’re in for a treat. A maze of picturesque wooden stalls house goods from a staggering variety of businesses. You’re bound to find something interesting and unique to pop under the tree here. Dotted throughout the market you’ll also find stalls selling traditional German food as well as beer and mulled wine, making this a great evening out as well as a perfect shopping destination.
Of course the whole of Bristol will be alive this Christmas as locals and visitors alike head out to do their Christmas shopping and enjoy the atmosphere, so you’ll find all kinds of other options open to you. A weekend away in Bristol could be just the thing to kick off the seasonal celebrations. Perhaps consider a night at our Bristol Spa Hotel Tortworth Court.
