Night of Stars Awards Ceremony 2012
Every year we celebrate the best of our employee’s at our Night of the Stars Awards. It is our opportunity to acknowledge and reward our staff-nominated “Best Employees” with a no-expense spared four course dinner, awards ceremony and dancing until the early hours of the morning!
This year’s Night of Stars Awards was held at the Cotswold Water Park on Friday 25th January 2013 and was attended by all the hotel nominees throughout the group, as well as several specially invited guests. In particular, one such special guest was Hugh Mulcahey, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at CRY. We felt this event would be a great opportunity to launch this year’s Charity to our employees and so Hugh agreed to attend this special occasion so that he could share with our employees the importance of our support.
The hotel provided us with a fantastic meal and service and the Bond themed entertainment included a visit from Jaws, Odd Job and James Bond himself as well as a couple of their dancing girls who entertained everyone by dancing in cocktail glasses either side of the stage. Then after a sumptuous dinner, the awards took place and the partying went on until the early hours with many sore heads been seen at breakfast the following day.
We are pleased to announce that our 2012 Night of Stars Winners were;

Charity Quiz Night – Oxford Witney Four Pillars Hotel
As ever, this was a popular event which saw a bit of friendly, inter-hotel rivalry! We had teams from Oxford Witney, Oxford Abingdon, Oxford Spires and a number of tables headed by Central Support Office employees as well as lots of people from the local area coming out to support the night.
Off limits hosted the interactive event, where 14 teams battled for victory answering questions about Movies, Sport, and Television and of course, Food and Drink!
In addition to the fun and games, we hosted a raffle which contributed towards the final amount raised of… £500!
Bristol 10k Race – 5th May 2013
The Bristol 10k race is considered to be the fasted growing race of its kind in the UK and four of our employees are stepping up and taking part for CRY on Sunday 5th May 2013.
The route in Bristol, which runs alongside the River Avon and loops under the spectacular Clifton Suspension Bridge, sees our Sonata Leonaviciute (Head Housekeeper - Oxford Spires) and Izabela Neumann (Junior Housekeeping Supervisor – Oxford Spires) raise money for CRY. Katherine Swingler (Human Resources Director) and Liz Heneghan (Human Resources Manager – Tortworth Court) will also be running but not raising money; they are running this race as part of their training for the Run to the Beat Half Marathon later this year, where they will be running with the rest of the Four Pillars Team for CRY.
Craft Fayre – Date in June/ July to be confirmed
We have experienced previous success hosting a Craft Fayre at our Oxford Witney Four Pillars Hotel and hope to replicate that success one weekend in June or July, the date is yet to be finalised.
It is our hope to provide an array of crafts from both local talent and further afield, displaying a variety of crafts from garden metal sculpture to beauty and soft furnishings to glassware.
Watch this space for updates on when and where you need to be in order to enjoy/ sample some of these truly talented crafters!
CRY London Bridges Walk – 7th July 2013
In 2012 the CRY London Bridges Walk attracted over 940 supporters and this year on Sunday 5th July 2013, Four Pillars Hotels will be joining the fun to increase the numbers, increase the fundraising and increase awareness for the charity.
We will be starting the walk with all of the other CRY Supporters from Victoria Embankment Gardens and ending the walk near London Bridge. This popular event incorporates 7 of the bridges which cross the Thames and provides great views of over 12 world famous London Landmarks including; the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and the Tower of London.
The event is open to everyone (even four legged friends!) and we hope to make it a fun and enjoyable family day out whilst raising money for our Charity of the Year. Four Pillars Hotels is going to provide travel for its employees and their families, and weather permitting, we are hoping that we will round the day with a family picnic in Hyde Park. Let’s hope for sunshine!
Watch this space for photos and how much money we managed to raise.

Family Fun Day – Sunday 15th September 2013
Generally considered the biggest fundraising event in the Four Pillars Hotels calendar is the Family Fun Day, this year held at Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel on Sunday 15th September 2013.
Last year the day was a great success and raised just over £2,000 for our Charities of the Year, Above & Beyond and Vale House. There were lots of local craft stalls as well as face painting, raffles and the hotel laid on a fantastic barbeque. Off Limits provided us with activities including Laser Clay Shooting, Crazy Golf & a Running Bungee – which as you can see was enjoyed by both Jonathan Oldroyd (General Manager - Oxford Thames) & Ben Sanders (General Manager - Oxford Abingdon) who were very competitive about winning! Special visitors on the day included Super Mario & Peppa Pig who not only entertained the children, but also took part in a running bungee challenge, the local fire brigade and police came along and let the children explore their fire engine & police car and even let the sirens go off on several occasions. However our most famous visitor on the day was Martin Keown, who used to play for Arsenal and was a member of the leisure club at Oxford Thames for many years.
This year, we will be hosting a very similar event, with Blue Hat Group providing the fun and of course, some very special guests… details to follow!
We have placed an order for sunshine but we are yet to hear of the request has been granted! Watch this space for further details.
