Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel adds to its impressive Conference and Meetings space with the Whimbrel Suite and the Starling Suite

Due to an increase in demand for high volume bookings at the Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel, April 2011 sees the opening of the new Whimbrel Suite, a permanent rigid marquee, measuring an impressive 450 square metres and offering a capacity of 500 guests or 800 when combined with the adjoining Kingfisher Suite. The addition of this versatile space has created a truly unique venue with the capacity to host some of the UK’s largest meetings and events.

The Oxford Thames Four Pillars Hotel has a varied history itself, with documents dating the site back as far as the 12th century and linking it with the Knights Templar. It is appropriate, therefore, that the hotel should choose to refurbish its oldest wing (the medieval College House), restoring it to its original glory and giving guests the opportunity for a Knight to remember…

Since 1511, this house has played host to a vibrant historic tapestry of characters across the centuries, including Royalist Soldiers led by King Charles 1st fighting their battles against Parliamentarians led by Oliver Cromwell, during the English Civil War! With an eclectic history that ranges from Cows to Kings (the word ‘Wyke’ originates from ‘Wix’ – an Anglo-Saxon phrase for Dairy Farm), this stunning restoration really is the cream of the crop.
