Four Pillars fundraises for firefighters
Guests at the Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Oxfordshire over the Christmas party season were treated to an energetic cabaret show performed by Abingdon’s very own answer to the Village People. During the evening’s dinner service staff took to the stage to entertain partygoers with an energetic rendition of YMCA.
During the performance generous contributions to the tune of £1,000 were collected from guests and other members of staff, to be donated to the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund (FSNBF). General Manager of Abingdon, Wilma Orr, was inspired by seeing local firemen fundraising in a local supermarket; “The tragic warehouse blaze in Atherston-on-Stour in November really highlighted the danger firefighters place themselves in on a daily basis. The Benevolent Fund offers support to all those employed in the fire service and their dependants, providing a range of therapy and recuperation programs. Our staff agreed that this was a very worthy cause and jumped at the chance to show off their song and dance skills”.
